Chartered in 1986, Chichester Priory is one of three Rotary Clubs in the city of Chichester. Currently with 61 members, the Club meets every Wednesday at the Chichester Park Hotel at 6.00 for 6.30pm, where visiting Rotarians are most welcome.
As well as the Chichester Priory 10k Road Race, the Club runs several other annual events, including the Chichester Young Chef Competition; the Chichester Challenge where entrants walk run or cycle 15, 25 or 42 km for the charity of their choice; the Dragon Boat Challenge held in the summer on the Chichester Canal; an annual charity Boxing Evening; and the Beaujolais Nouveau Business Lunch in November. They hold regular "Bridging Generations" meetings with elders from Chichester area together with students from the college, which not only provides a useful social event for the elders, but is also a benefit curriculum-wise for the students. Last year, the Club raised and distributed over £30,000 to local causes including a number of youth projects, and overseas, including Shelterbox and Aquabox (both to provide emergency aid following earthquakes floods and other natural disasters).
The Rotary Club of Chichester Priory are pleased to announce a new name and route for their 10K road race.
The Chichester Priory 10k Race at Goodwood is a race over low traffic
public roads with road / lane closures as appropriate, through the
lovely Sussex countryside for the first 6.5km, finishing with a 3.5km
complete lap of the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
The race will start at the entrance to the motor circuit in Claypit Lane, pass the Rolls Royce factory, along historic roman road, Stane Street, through beautiful Strettington village and back along New Road entering the motor circuit at the main entrance on Claypit Lane and finishing on the Pits straight after a complete lap of the motor circuit. The country roads are undulating and all hard surfaced as is the complete lap of the motor circuit.
The race will be organised on the same basis as in previous years with race headquarters, free car parking and facilities all within the motor circuit arena. This is a unique opportunity to race around the Goodwood countryside and the Goodwood Motor Circuit
All Proceeds for entries go to Chestnut Tree House and other Rotary Charities.
